Julie was born in Portland where she was a teacher and administrator in education for 12 years. Julie married T.J. Muller a local Bend man and moved to Bend in 2004 with their two year old twin boys.

Julie started an organizing business, Peace of Mind, Inc. Peace of Mind, Inc has 4 different offerings:

Julie loves networking, making connections, building relationships, helping people. Latest and greatest organizing tool – Send Out Cards helping people connect through sending a heartfelt card to friends, family and clients. Sending out to give rather than to receive. Advertising

karen-brannon-crop2by Karen Brannon

Advertising is often misunderstood, largely because it's difficult to measure the results. Advertising is simply another way to attract attention to your product or business, it's an extension of yourself and all of your other marketing efforts. If used correctly advertising will get you in front of your target market more often or more economically then you could using other marketing techniques, whether it be face-to-face, direct mail, or phone solicitation.

In my case I've advertised with NEW every month since I joined 4 years ago, first in the paper newsletter then on the website. It's not coincidental that the majority of NEW members know who I am and what I do, it's branding! It could also be said that everyone know who I am because I make a point of meeting as many members face-to-face as I can, and I look for strategic opportunities to speak and receive recognition, also branding! That's why it's hard to measure advertising, it's hard to say why a NEW member eventually calls me and ask for an insurance quote, but I'm convinced that in happens faster and more often because my face in on the website every time someone goes to it.

Advertising is just one prong of my marketing efforts. An effective marketing plan requires several approaches that are all designed to receive visibility for you or your product. Farmers recommends that its' agents have five marketing efforts in place at all times, some passive and some active, as the basis for our lead generation efforts. Advertising is strategic, not immediate, it takes a commitment and usually doesn't create immediate results, but if you advertise consistently it will pay off if the message is good and you have targeted a market that's in your niche.

What I do know for sure is that advertising with NEW is a great advertising value. I have advertised extensively in print and on TV and there is no where else that you can get an entire years exposure for less then $300 a year, that's unheard of!!! Because advertising is something that you need to make a commitment to over a period of time advertising on the NEW website is a great way to get started. That said advertising alone is not enough by itself to give you the sales you need, but it can certainly increase the effectiveness of your other marketing efforts, it's so inexpensive what do you have to loose? Advertising will help you be the first person to come to mind when a member has a need you can fill, isn't that the point!
