Balance = overall health. Sounds simple enough right?
Much of the disease, illness, pain, and dysfunction in our lives come from our life being out of balance. A balanced life has many aspects to it: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, self-care/personal growth, financial, family, and social. Simplify all that to focus on Mind and Body. Dr. Depok Chopra states that, “Your body is a 3-D projection of your current state of mind. Your slightest shift of mood is picked up by every cell, which means that you do not think with your brain alone — all 50 trillion cells in your body actively share your thoughts. “ The mind body connection “…has enormous power - the power to make us sick or well, depressed or joyful, sluggish or dynamic. The mind body connection is the gateway to unlimited creativity and happiness.”
Taking care of our minds as well as our body is the key to finding balance and overall health. Stress and strain put on the balancing act of our lives creates dis-connect which results in discomfort, disease, and struggle. I do not claim to know the way to finding balance into everyone’s life. I myself am on the same journey. I do, however, know that only with the awareness of where we are can we work towards better health. The following are some things that I have taken into consideration and have helped me find balance:
~ Get clear on what it is you want. You will continue to run in the hamster wheel with no direction until you take the time to determine where you want your life to go. Sometimes the clarity will make you realize what aspects of your life you have been neglecting. ~ Practice stress-relieving activities daily. If you don’t know what to do, start with your breath. Focusing on your breath throughout the day taking full inhalations and exhalations can bring you back to the moment, calm your mind, and feel good. ~ Stay positive. There is always a brighter way to look at a situation. If you have a hard time looking at some situations in a positive light try this instead: Start each day in a place of gratitude. We have so much to be thankful for so focus on those things. As some of us know, when we surround ourselves with positive thoughts, more positive things happen to us. Give it a try. What do you have to lose? ~ Bring in help from others! We are part of this wonderful organization and there are women in all professions to help you in any part of your life you are not spending enough energy on. Befriend someone new who can give you some good advice, assist you in the place that is giving you trouble, lend a neutral ear to hear you, or lead you in the right direction.
